Configuring NextDNS for iOS, iPadOS & macOS

Account Configuration

  1. Visit NextDNS and create an account
  2. Login and make the following configuration tweaks
Security
  1. Turn on "Enable DNS Rebinding Protection"
  2. Turn on "Block Parked Domains"
  3. Turn off "Google Safe Browsing"
Privacy
  1. Click the "X" to the right of "NextDNS Ads & Trackers Blocklist"
  2. Click the "ADD A BLOCKLIST"
  3. Add the "OISD", "Fanboy's Annoyance List", "AdGuard Social Media Filter", and "RU AdList" blocklists, then click the "X" to return
  4. Click "ADD" under "Native Tracking Protection" and add all manufacturers
Settings
  1. Turn off "Enable Logs"
  2. Turn on "Anonymized EDNS Client Subnet"
  3. Turn on "Enable Cache Boost"
  4. Turn on "CNAME Flattening"

Installing the Configuration Profile on iOS & iPadOS

  1. Tap "Setup" and scroll down to "Setup Guide"
  2. Under "Configuration Profile", tap "apple.nextdns.io"
  3. Tap "Download", then "Allow, then "Close"
  4. Open the Settings app > General > VPN & Device Management > NextDNS
  5. Tap "Install" and enter your passcode
  6. Tap "Install" then "Install" again
  7. Tap "Done"

Installing the Configuration Profile on macOS

  1. Click "Setup" and scroll down to "Setup Guide"
  2. Under "Configuration Profile", click "apple.nextdns.io"
  3. Click "Download"
  4. Open your downloads folder and run "NextDNS....mobileconfig"
  5. Click the Apple Logo on the Menu Bar > click "System Preferences..."
  6. Profiles > NextDNS > click "Install" and enter your password
  7. Exit
